Call or Text (352) 722-5295Replacement filters for the 1994-2002 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke
These are the elements and wraps you reorder at service time. Ford's normal interval is 30,000 miles or 30 months. Work in dust and it drops to 15,000 miles or 12 months, and either way the filter gets a look at each oil change. On this engine a restrictive filter does more than choke airflow. It raises crankcase vacuum and pulls oil through the crankcase ventilation into the intake, where it collects in the Y-pipe boot and the valley.
What we carry
S&B builds its 7.3L replacement elements in cotton or dry media, and the listings line up by year:
- 1994-1997 OBS: KF-1041 and KF-1050 filters, plus WF-1019 and WF-1031 wraps.
- 1998-2003 Super Duty: KF-1006, KF-1042 and KF-1059 filters, plus WF-1020 and WF-1040 wraps.
- Banks Ram-Air owners: the Banks Power 42650 pre-filter wrap, made for Banks filters 42158 and 42188.
If an S&B intake is already on the truck, reorder by the filter number that came with it. Browse every S&B part, our diesel intakes, or the full Powerstroke catalog.
Fitment notes
S&B lists its Super Duty parts as 1998-2003 because Ford began building the 1999 Super Duty in January 1998. On a 2003, confirm the truck still has the 7.3L, since it only ran into early 2003 before the 6.0L took over. Early-1999 trucks built before December 1998 are known for broken airbox retention clips that let air bypass the filter, so look at the box while you swap the element. When in doubt, verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put a filter wrap on any element?
No. Each wrap is listed for a specific filter. WF-1019 and WF-1031 are listed for the 1994-1997 filters, WF-1020 and WF-1040 for 1998-2003, and the Banks 42650 fits only over Banks Ram-Air filters 42158 and 42188.
Do OBS and Super Duty trucks share an air filter?
No. The 1994-1997 OBS listings here are the KF-1041 and KF-1050, while the KF-1006, KF-1042 and KF-1059 are listed for 1998-2003. Check your year and body style before you order.
When should I switch to the dusty-use interval?
If the truck regularly works in dust, use 15,000 miles or 12 months instead of 30,000 miles or 30 months. Inspect the filter at every oil change regardless, and add a pre-filter wrap for dusty use.
