Fitment

Fits 2007.5-2024 Dodge Ram and Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with the 6.7L Cummins and the 68RFE six-speed automatic, on either the factory pan or a PPE pan. Our engine tags run to the current model year but the title stops at 2024, so verify fitment by VIN on a newer truck.

This is a 68RFE gasket only. The Aisin AS69RC that went behind the High Output engine in 3500 pickups from 2013 uses a different pan, and Aisin and 68RFE parts never interchange. 2007.5-2009 chassis cabs ran the Aisin AS68RC, and manual trucks have the G56, so neither one takes this gasket. Not sure what is under your truck? The 68RFE dipstick sits on the passenger side; the Aisin dipstick is on the driver side. Verify by VIN or call us.

Why this part

On a 68RFE the pan gasket is a service part, not just a leak repair. The transmission uses two filters, a sump filter inside the pan and a spin-on external filter, and the sump filter only comes out with the pan down. Every full filter service means pulling the pan, and that means a gasket.

It also makes sense if you plan to upgrade. Deep transmission pans and auxiliary coolers are stocked for these trucks, and aftermarket deep pans add fluid volume and cooling to the 68RFE. Because this gasket is made for both the OEM pan and PPE pans, the same part number works for a stock-pan service today and a PPE pan later.

A pan drop is also when you catch trouble early. Metal in the pan is one of the signs of a failing 68RFE, along with slipping in 4th through 6th, harsh or flared shifts and limp mode. On this platform those failures typically show up somewhere between 50,000 and 150,000 miles, and they were especially common on 2007-2011 trucks.

Can I use this gasket on the factory pan?

Yes. It is made for both the OEM pan and PPE transmission pans on the 68RFE.

Does it fit a truck with the Aisin transmission?

No. Aisin AS69RC and 68RFE parts do not interchange. If the dipstick is on the driver side, your truck has the Aisin.

What else should I replace while the pan is down?

Both 68RFE filters: the sump filter inside the pan and the spin-on external filter. A complete filter service includes both.
