How It Started
Founder Ben Hinz didn't set out to build a diesel parts company. As he puts it, "Like a lot of us, it started with a simple love for turbos and trucks." Before any of this existed, Ben moved from the Chicago area down to Florida and worked his way through sales, logistics, automotive work, and running an online business — including a custom headlight business that taught him a hard lesson: one-off custom manufacturing is brutal to scale. Every order meant different specs, different finishing work, different shipping headaches. It doesn't scale, no matter how good the product is.
The idea for Southern Diesel Supply came from being a diesel owner himself. Ben was tired of needing five different vendors to finish one project — a turbo from one place, fuel system parts from another, hardware from a third, none of them talking to each other. He wanted one shop that could get you the right parts from real manufacturers, with someone on the other end who actually knew diesel trucks — not a faceless catalog.
What started as parts-only quickly became something bigger. Customers didn't just need the right part — they needed it installed, diagnosed, and done right. That's how Southern Diesel Supply became Southern Diesel Supply & Repair: the parts business and the shop, built to support each other.
