2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins Hitch Accessories

Hitch accessories for the 2019-2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins: a Big Hitch Products 7- and 4-pole trailer connector socket with mounting bracket, plus B&W hitch balls and reducer sleeves. The one thing to know: the trailer plug at your bumper depends on how the truck was built, either standard 4- and 7-pin or a 12/7-pin with the camera prep.

Hitch accessories on the 2019-2024 RAM 6.7L Cummins

These trucks use an integrated heavy-duty receiver at the rear, with standard 4- and 7-pin trailer plugs at the bumper, or a 12/7-pin connector on trucks with the camera prep. That 12/7-pin connector is also what an auxiliary trailer camera needs. Trucks with the factory fifth-wheel and gooseneck prep add a 7-pin plug inside the bed. Around the hitch, Ram offered a full set of towing aids: trailer tire-pressure monitoring for up to 12 trailer tires across four trailer profiles, a 360 camera with trailer reverse guidance, and a digital rearview mirror with a tow mode from 2021. The trailer brake controller is a separate option from the bed prep, so a truck can have one without the other.

What owners run into

Owners of 2019-2021 trucks have reported the integrated trailer brake controller intermittently not braking the trailer, and 'trailer not connected' warnings with flickering lights. Those are owner complaints rather than a confirmed defect, and the symptoms alone don't tell you whether the fault is in the truck, the plug or the trailer. Check both sides before you replace parts. If the bumper socket itself is cracked or damaged, the Big Hitch Products socket here is listed for 2003-2025 5.9L and 6.7L Cummins Rams and comes with a mounting bracket.

Choosing balls and sleeves

A hitch ball has to match two things: the coupler size on your trailer and the weight you're towing. Reducer sleeves let a ball mount with a smaller shank work in a larger receiver opening, so pick the sleeve that matches your receiver and your shank. Every piece in the chain carries its own rating, and the lowest one sets your limit no matter what the truck is rated for.

Fitment notes

Look at your bumper before you order a connector: standard 4- and 7-pin, or a 12/7-pin from the camera prep. Read the coupler size off your trailer before choosing a ball, and measure your receiver and shank before choosing a sleeve. Verify by VIN, or call and we'll check it with you. Everything for this engine family starts at the Cummins hub.

Frequently asked questions

Which trailer plug does my Ram have?

Standard is a 4-pin and 7-pin at the bumper. Trucks ordered with the trailer camera prep have a 12/7-pin connector, which is what the auxiliary trailer camera plugs into. Trucks with the fifth-wheel and gooseneck prep also have a 7-pin in the bed.

My trailer lights flicker and the truck says trailer not connected. Is it the plug?

Maybe. Owners of 2019-2021 trucks have reported those warnings, along with the integrated brake controller intermittently not braking the trailer. Those are owner reports rather than a confirmed defect, so test the trailer side and the truck side before you buy parts, and replace the socket only if it's damaged.

Does the factory fifth-wheel prep include a trailer brake controller?

No. The trailer brake controller is a separate option from the bed prep group, so a truck with pucks in the bed may still lack one. Check your window sticker or have the build looked up by VIN.
