Exhaust Accessories on the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel

Accessories are the small parts that finish or reseal an exhaust: tips at the outlet, heat wrap where a pipe runs close to something that should stay cool, V-band clamps at flanged joints, and gaskets wherever two flanges meet. On the EcoDiesel, those flanges include the EGR circuit. Ram's launch spec lists high-pressure cooled EGR, and every engine in this range has it. The 2020-2023 third-generation engine adds a low-pressure loop that pulls exhaust from after the DPF. Keeping those joints sealed keeps exhaust going where the engine and its sensors expect it.

What fails and why

Gaskets are the wear item in this group. Owners who pull the EGR pipe on a second-generation EcoDiesel find heavy carbon built up inside, and any time that pipe, the EGR valve or the cooler tubes come off, the old gaskets have done their job. There is no documented pattern of cracked manifolds or broken manifold bolts on this engine to warn you about, so on the exhaust side you are usually replacing gaskets during other work rather than chasing a known failure. Tips and clamps get replaced for looks, fit or damage.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

The MAHLE gaskets are OE-style replacements, and the only upgrade for a gasket is a fresh one. Tips are where taste comes in. A turndown tip points exhaust toward the ground, rolled and angle-cut tips are mostly about the look at the bumper, and dual-wall tips have a finished, double-layer edge. PPE builds its tips in stainless steel, and Mishimoto's tip is polished. Heat wrap is a practical add where pipe runs near wiring, lines or the body.

Fitment notes

The tips are universal. Measure the outside diameter of your tailpipe and match the tip inlet to it before you choose an outlet size and cut. The MAHLE gaskets are labeled for 2014-2019 EcoDiesel engines, which covers the 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, both DS-body trucks. On a 2020-2023 DT, compare the part number to the gasket you take off or call with your VIN. The EcoDiesel was sold only in the Ram 1500, never the 2500 or 3500.
