Call or Text (352) 722-5295Engine oil on the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel
On the second-generation engine in the 2018 Ram 1500 and 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, the owner guide calls for 10.5 quarts. The original spec was 5W-30 meeting FCA MS-10902, and from July 2016 it expanded to include 5W-40 synthetic meeting MS-10902 (API CJ-4 or ACEA E9/E7). The Mopar oil filter is 68229402AA. For 2020-2023 third-generation trucks, take the oil spec and capacity from your owner's manual. Ram said that engine used 80% new parts, so do not carry the older numbers over.
What we carry
- Lucas Oil 10001 Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer and 10130 Synthetic Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer.
- Lucas Oil 10063 TB Zinc Plus Engine Break-In Oil Additive, labeled for engine break-in.
- XDP XD275 X-Factor High Performance Oil Additive, 8 oz.
Fitment notes
These additives are not year-specific parts, but your engine still sets the rules. Get the base oil right first, then follow each additive's label for how much to add. The Lucas 10063 is labeled as a break-in additive, so it is meant for fresh engine work rather than a routine oil change. The EcoDiesel went into the Ram 1500 only.
Frequently asked questions
How much oil does my EcoDiesel hold?
The owner guide for the second-generation engine in the 2018 Ram 1500 and 2019 Classic lists 10.5 quarts. For a 2020-2023 truck, use the capacity printed in your owner's manual; we will not guess at that number.
Does an oil additive replace the right oil?
No. Lucas Oil stabilizers and the XDP X-Factor additive go in with your oil. On the second-generation engine the spec is 5W-30 or, from July 2016, 5W-40 synthetic meeting FCA MS-10902; on 2020-2023 trucks, follow the owner's manual.
