EcoDiesel Ram 1500s were built rear-drive or as part-time 4x4 with an electronic transfer case. The 4x4 trucks have a front differential; the rear-drive trucks don't. Every 2023 EcoDiesel was a Crew Cab 4x4, so all of the final-year trucks have one. The 2020 Rebel EcoDiesel was a 4x4 as well. On other 2018-2022 trucks, confirm 4x2 or 4x4 before you order.
What we carry
The ATS Diesel Performance 402-009-1000 drain plug is a replacement plug for ATS pans and ATS differential covers. It's a service part for trucks already running an ATS piece, and it is not listed for factory covers. If you lost or damaged the plug on an ATS cover, this is the one to order.
Fitment notes
The DS (2018 Ram 1500 and 2019 Ram 1500 Classic) and DT (2020-2023) are different chassis, and axle covers and mounts are body-specific. Front axle parts for a 2500 or 3500 will not fit; the half-ton uses a completely different axle family. When you service the front differential, refill with the gear oil grade your owner's manual specifies. Verify every part by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Does every EcoDiesel Ram 1500 have a front differential?
No. Only 4x4 trucks do, and rear-drive EcoDiesels have none. Every 2023 EcoDiesel was sold as a Crew Cab 4x4, so all of those have one; for 2018-2022, check how your truck was built.
Will the ATS drain plug fit my factory front differential cover?
It's listed for ATS pans and ATS differential covers, not factory covers, so don't count on it. If you're unsure what cover your truck is wearing, call the shop with your VIN and we'll sort it out.
