Intakes on the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel

Ram fed the EcoDiesel through an enclosed factory airbox ahead of a single variable-geometry turbo. The engine behind that airbox changed partway through this range. The 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, both on the DS body, run the second-generation engine at 240 hp and 420 lb-ft. The 2020-2023 Ram 1500 on the DT body runs the third generation at 260 hp and 480 lb-ft, and its cylinder-head intake ports were redesigned for more flow. The new-body 2019 Ram 1500 never offered a diesel. Aftermarket intakes exist for both generations, but they are different parts.

How to choose an intake

Start with your model year, because the kits here are generation-specific. Then pick a filter media. S&B offers a cotton cleanable element you wash and re-oil, or a dry extendable element you can clean up to 10 times. On the 75-5195, S&B claims 23.46% more airflow than stock with the cotton element and 20.41% more with the dry one. Those are S&B's airflow figures, not horsepower numbers. When the element needs replacing, the KF-1107 is the part for that kit.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

An aftermarket intake is a choice, not a repair. If the factory airbox is intact and the truck runs right, the factory system is serviced with a replacement filter, which you will find in our Filters collection for this truck. If you want a different filter media or more airflow, an intake kit is where you get it. Weigh the legal status below before you decide.

What we carry

S&B makes the 75-5195 cold air intake for 2020-2023 trucks and the 75-5074 cold air intake for 2014-2018 trucks. Pacific Performance Engineering makes the 215020360 Zilla carbon fiber intake tube for 2020-2023 trucks. To see intakes for every truck we support, browse our intakes page.

Fitment and legal notes

The 75-5195 and the PPE Zilla tube are titled for the 2020-2023 DT-body Ram 1500. The 75-5074 is titled for 2014-2018, which covers the 2018 DS-body Ram 1500; a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic owner should confirm by VIN. The common aftermarket intakes for this engine carry no CARB EO number. S&B lists the 75-5195 as not street legal in all US states, and it cannot ship to California. Check your state's rules before you order. None of these fit a 2500 or 3500, because the EcoDiesel was a Ram 1500 engine only.

Frequently asked questions

Can the S&B 75-5195 ship to California?

No. S&B lists it as not street legal in all US states, and it is not CARB-exempt, so it cannot ship to California. If you live in another state, check your own state's rules before you install it.

How much more air does the S&B intake flow?

S&B claims the 75-5195 flows 23.46% more air than stock with the cotton element and 20.41% more with the dry element. Those are S&B's own figures for the 2020-2023 kit. Pick the media you want to maintain: cotton is washed and re-oiled, dry can be cleaned up to 10 times.

Will the 2014-2018 intake fit my 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel?

Do not count on it. The 2020-2023 trucks use the third-generation engine in the DT body, and S&B builds the 75-5195 for those years and the 75-5074 for 2014-2018. Order the kit titled for your model year, or confirm by VIN.
