Call or Text (352) 722-5295The lift pump on the 2014-2017 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel
Ram built the EcoDiesel with an electric in-tank lift pump module, factory part numbers 68161407AB/AE and 68217575AE, that also carries the fuel level sender. It sits in the 26-gallon standard tank or the 32-gallon optional tank and pushes fuel forward to the engine-mounted 3-micron filter and water separator. From there, the CP4.2 takes over and builds up to 2,000 bar for the rails. Every drop the injection pump sees has come through the lift pump first.
Why supply matters on this engine
The CP4.2 is under NHTSA recall 22V-406 for failures that shed metal debris through the fuel system, with complaints describing hard starts, stalling and loss of power. Low supply pressure and contaminated fuel are commonly cited stressors for CP4-family pumps. That makes the lift pump and the filter the two parts an owner controls. A lift pump that keeps steady supply to the filter and pump is part of protecting the high-pressure side.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If your factory module needs replacing, the Fleece PowerFlo is the drop-in step up. The PowerFlo, FPE-PF-RAM-ECO-1419, replaces the factory 68161407AB/AE and 68217575AE modules. It uses twin gerotor pumps, delivers 68-70 psi at idle, keeps an integral level sender, needs no tank modification and is B20 compatible. An active fill bucket keeps it from starving at a quarter tank, so you do not need a sump or draw straw with it. It also keeps the factory lines with no cutting or splicing, and its outlets accept -8 O-ring fittings for later plumbing. Frame-mounted lift pump systems are another route, and they live in the filtration collection for this truck.
What we carry
Fleece Performance Engineering PowerFlo lift pump FPE-PF-RAM-ECO-1419 and SureFlo performance sending unit FPE-SF-RAM-ECO-1419, both listed for the 2014-2019 3.0L EcoDiesel. Check the SureFlo product page for what it includes and how it pairs with your setup. For lift pumps across other platforms, browse our lift pumps page.
Fitment notes
Both Fleece parts are listed for the 2014-2019 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, which covers the 2014-2017 trucks on this page, 2018 trucks and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. They are not listed for the 2020-and-later DT Ram 1500 with the redesigned EcoDiesel, and nothing here fits a Ram 2500 or 3500. Lift-pump kits can be cab-specific, and at least one frame-mounted kit for this truck fits Crew Cab only, so confirm your cab and tank size before ordering. The 32-gallon tank was optional on Quad and Crew Cab and standard on the Regular Cab 8-foot box. Verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Fleece PowerFlo a direct replacement for my factory EcoDiesel lift pump?
Yes. Fleece lists the PowerFlo FPE-PF-RAM-ECO-1419 as a drop-in replacement for factory modules 68161407AB/AE and 68217575AE on 2014-2019 Ram 1500 EcoDiesels. It keeps the integral level sender and needs no tank modification.
Do I need a fuel sump with a high-flow lift pump on this truck?
Not with the PowerFlo. Fleece's module uses an active fill bucket to avoid starvation at a quarter tank, so no sump or draw straw is needed.
Can I run B20 with the PowerFlo?
The pump is B20 compatible, but the truck sets the limit. FCA allows B5 for routine use and B6 to B20 only under a state mandate, with that fuel used within 15 days and oil and fuel-filter service at 8,000 miles.
Will I have to cut my fuel lines to install it?
No. The PowerFlo keeps the factory lines with no cutting or splicing. Its outlets accept -8 O-ring fittings if you plumb aftermarket lines later.
