Call or Text (352) 722-5295Radiator on the 2014-2017 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel
The factory front end stacks the air-to-air charge-air cooler ahead of the radiator, with active grille shutters that arrived in the 2013 refresh. The radiator sheds heat from 11.6 to 12 quarts of MOPAR OAT coolant, and that same coolant runs through the engine oil cooler, the EGR cooler and the 8HP70 transmission fluid heater, whose thermal bypass valve holds ATF near 180 F. Radiator health, engine-bay leaks and transmission temperature are all tied together on this truck.
When the radiator is the problem, and when it isn't
The most common EcoDiesel cooling complaint is an oil cooler that fails internally and mixes oil into the coolant, which brings coolant loss and overheating. Oil residue coats the radiator, but the standard repair flushes it rather than replacing it, unless it is damaged. Owners who overheated after losing coolant report replacing the radiator, pump and thermostat together, yet the root cause was usually the leak. So find where the coolant went first: check the reservoir for oil film, run the VIN for EGR cooler recall VB1, and look for weeps at the coolant pump and bypass tube. Replace the radiator when the radiator itself is damaged or leaking.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
The radiator in this collection is an OEM-style replacement, built to the factory layout rather than as a performance part. That suits a truck that needs a radiator because the old one is physically damaged or leaking. If you tow and want earlier warning before temperatures climb, a monitor that shows coolant and transmission temperature helps you catch a failing cooler or a sticking transmission bypass valve.
What we carry
The CSF 3738 OEM style replacement radiator, listed for the 2014-2019 3.0L EcoDiesel. Plan on fresh OAT coolant for the refill.
Fitment notes
Buy by Ram 1500 EcoDiesel application. The Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel shares the engine but not the radiator, fans, reservoir or hoses. The CSF listing runs through 2019, which covers the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic with the same engine; the redesigned DT Ram 1500 is a different truck with different parts. Refill only with OAT coolant to FCA's MS.90032 spec, never HOAT or universal coolant. Verify by VIN before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new radiator after an oil cooler failure?
Not usually. The standard repair flushes the radiator instead of replacing it, unless it is damaged. The parts that do typically get replaced are the 68624177AA oil filter/cooler assembly and the coolant reservoir, since oil residue can't be fully cleaned out of the reservoir.
My EcoDiesel overheated. Should I start with the radiator?
Start with where the coolant went. Owner reports say the root cause is usually a leak, not the radiator. Check the reservoir for oil film, run the VIN for EGR cooler recall VB1, and look for weeps at the pump and bypass tube.
Will a Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel radiator fit my Ram 1500?
No. The Jeep shares the 3.0L engine but uses its own radiator, fans, reservoir and hoses. Buy by Ram 1500 application.
What coolant goes in after a radiator swap?
MOPAR 10-year/150,000-mile OAT to MS.90032, sold as MS-12106, or a coolant whose label meets that spec. The system holds 11.6 to 12 quarts. Do not mix OAT with HOAT.
