2014-2017 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel Cold Air Intakes

Cold air intakes for the 2014-2017 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel. The kit on this page is the S&B 75-5074, an enclosed-box intake that keeps the factory MAF sensor. Before you buy, know this: S&B lists it as not street legal in all US states and will not ship it to California, so check your state's rules first.

Intakes for the 2014-2017 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel

From the factory, the EcoDiesel pulls air through a closed airbox on the driver side, past the mass-airflow sensor and down a tube to the single variable-geometry turbo in the engine valley. The factory filter is Mopar 68190705AA. An aftermarket intake replaces the airbox, filter and tube with its own parts. The documented kits for this truck are enclosed-box designs, and they keep the factory MAF sensor, so the engine computer still measures the air the engine takes in.

What an intake will and will not fix

An intake is about airflow, not repairs. S&B claims its 75-5074 flows 22 percent more air than stock. It will not cure the common intake-side problems on this engine, which sit downstream of the filter. A soot-packed MAP sensor on the intake manifold reads low boost and sets P0299 or limp mode; cleaning it, with one T40 screw holding it in, is a common free fix. Split or blown-off charge boots cause a hiss under boost, black smoke and the same P0299 code. If the truck shows any of those symptoms, fix them first and add the intake after.

Cotton or dry, and the legal question

S&B builds this kit two ways. The 75-5074 uses a cotton filter you clean and re-oil, and the 75-5074D uses dry media that needs no oil. Check the product page for which version is listed. On legality, S&B is clear: the kit is listed as not street legal in all US states, S&B will not ship it to California, and no CARB EO is listed for it. We will not tell you it is legal everywhere, because the maker does not. Check your state and local rules before you order.

What we carry

This page carries the S&B 75-5074 cold air intake, listed for 2014-2018 3.0L EcoDiesel trucks. Replacement elements, the S&B filter wrap and the 88-0008 cleaning and oil kit are on this truck's Filters and Accessories pages. To look at intakes for other diesel trucks, see our full intakes section.

Fitment notes

S&B sells this kit for 2014-2019 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel trucks, and our listing title reads 2014-2018. It does not fit the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel or the 2020 and later DT Ram 1500, which use different airboxes. The EcoDiesel was only offered in the half-ton Ram 1500, so there is no 2500 or 3500 version. Verify by VIN before you order.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does the S&B intake add to an EcoDiesel?

S&B rates the 75-5074 by airflow rather than horsepower, claiming 22 percent more flow than the stock intake. We do not have a verified horsepower number for this kit on this truck, so we will not quote one.

Can I run the S&B intake in California?

S&B will not ship the 75-5074 to California and lists no CARB EO number for it. S&B also says it is not street legal in all US states. Check your own state's rules before you order.

Do I lose the factory MAF sensor?

No. The S&B kit reuses the factory MAF sensor, as do the other documented enclosed-box kits for this truck. The sensor moves over to the new housing during the install.

Will it fit my 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel?

No. The 2020 and later DT Ram 1500 uses a different airbox and a third-generation EcoDiesel. This kit is built for the earlier DS-body trucks through 2019.
