2010-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins Flex Plates

Flex plates and flex plate hardware for the 2010-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins and an automatic transmission. The flex plate ties the crankshaft to the torque converter, so this is the part to look at whenever a converter or transmission is coming out. Tow Series and billet plates are listed here along with bolt and install kits.

Flex plates on the 2010-2018 RAM 6.7L Cummins

On an automatic truck, the flex plate bolts to the back of the crankshaft and carries the torque converter. Every standard-output automatic 6.7L Cummins in these years runs the 68RFE, and converter work is a big part of 68RFE repair. The factory converter stalls higher than it should, and billet converters are one of the main 68RFE upgrades. When the transmission is out for a converter or a complete unit, that is the time to look at the flex plate and its bolts. G56 manual trucks use a flywheel and clutch instead, and a solid-flywheel conversion is one of the known G56 fixes.

What we carry

XDP offers the XD646 Tow Series flex plate and the XD648 Billet Tow & Race Series flex plate, both listed for 2007.5-2018 6.7L Cummins trucks, plus the XD654 flex plate bolt kit. BD Diesel has a billet flex plate listed for 2007.5-2018 Cummins. DNR Customs sells a Cummins flex plate install kit. ATS Diesel Performance lists a billet flexplate for 4R100 conversion builds, which is a different job than a stock 68RFE repair.

Choosing a flex plate

Start with how the truck is used. The XDP names tell you the intent: the Tow Series is aimed at working trucks, and the Billet Tow & Race Series is aimed at trucks that tow and also see harder use. The BD plate is billet as well. If you keep your current plate, consider fresh hardware from the XDP bolt kit or the DNR install kit.

Fitment notes

The XDP and BD flex plates are listed for 2007.5-2018 trucks, and the ATS conversion flexplate for 2007.5-2024. The bolt kits cover wider ranges, with the XDP kit listed for 1989-2018 5.9L and 6.7L Cummins and the DNR kit for 1994-2018. If your 3500 has the High Output engine and the Aisin AS69RC, confirm the listing names your transmission before you order, since Aisin and 68RFE parts do not interchange. Verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Should I replace the flex plate when I replace my transmission or converter?

That is the right time to decide. The transmission has to come out to reach the flex plate, so pairing it with a converter or transmission job saves doing that work twice. If the old plate stays, put it back with fresh hardware from one of the kits here.

Does my G56 manual use a flex plate?

No. Manual trucks use a flywheel and clutch. Known G56 fixes include a solid-flywheel conversion with a quiet-disc clutch to cure gear rattle in neutral. The flex plates on this page are for automatic trucks.
