2010-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins 5th Wheel Hitches

Fifth-wheel hitch parts for the 2010-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins: the B&W Companion built for Ram's factory puck prep and a lube made for the fifth-wheel plate and slider. Before you order, look in your bed. The factory prep arrived with the 2013 trucks and was an available option, not standard equipment.

Fifth-wheel towing on the 2010-2018 RAM 6.7L Cummins

The 6.7L Cummins Ram HD became a serious fifth-wheel truck in 2013. That year the HD got a new frame with fully boxed rear rails, and the 3500 was rated at 30,000 lb of fifth-wheel towing, with available fifth-wheel/gooseneck provisions built into the frame and puck locations in the bed. By 2016 the 3500's maximum towing reached 31,210 lb. Those top ratings belong to dual-rear-wheel trucks with the High Output engine, so check the numbers for your exact truck. The 2010-2012 trucks were built before the factory prep, and their beds need an underbed rail kit before a fifth wheel can go in.

Choosing a fifth wheel for your bed

Start with bed length. A 6 ft 4 in short bed on a Crew Cab or Mega Cab needs a slider-type fifth wheel for turning clearance, and every Mega Cab in this generation has the short bed. An 8 ft bed on a Regular Cab or long-bed Crew Cab gives you more room to work with. Next, look for the factory puck locations in the bed floor. If they're there, a hitch built for the Ram OEM system mounts to them. If they're not, the bed needs prep first, and that's a conversation worth having with us before you buy.

What we carry

  • B&W Trailer Hitches RVK3670 Companion fifth wheel, built for the Ram OEM fifth-wheel prep. The listing covers 2010-2025 Cummins Rams, but because the factory puck system started in 2013, a 2010-2012 truck, or a later truck without the option, needs its bed prepared first.
  • Lucas Oil 10030 5th Wheel & Slider Lube, made for the fifth-wheel plate and slider.

For gooseneck and bumper-pull setups, see our hitches page.

Fitment notes

Confirm three things before you order: model year (2013-2018 for factory prep), whether your truck actually has the prep option, and bed length. Chassis cabs use different frames and are a separate fitment question. The fitment checker on the product page or a call with your VIN will sort it out.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put the B&W Companion in a 2011 Ram 3500?

Not into the bed as it left the factory. The 2010-2012 trucks have no factory puck locations, so the bed needs an underbed rail kit first. Call us with your VIN and we'll work out what your truck needs.

Do I need a slider fifth wheel on a Mega Cab?

Yes. Every Mega Cab of this generation has the 6 ft 4 in bed, and short-bed Crew Cab and Mega Cab Rams need a slider-type fifth wheel for turning clearance. Check the product page to confirm whether a given hitch is a slider before you order.

What is fifth-wheel lube for?

Lucas Oil 10030 is made to lubricate the fifth-wheel plate and slider. Follow your hitch maker's service guidance for how often to apply it.

How heavy a fifth wheel can my truck pull?

The 2013 3500 was rated at 30,000 lb of fifth-wheel towing and the 2016 reached 31,210 lb, but those are dual-rear-wheel High Output numbers. A 2500 or a single-rear-wheel 3500 is a different truck, so use the ratings for your exact configuration.
