Call or Text (352) 722-5295The common rail on the 2010-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins
Every 2010-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins uses a Bosch CP3 high-pressure pump feeding a common rail, and the rail supplies Bosch solenoid injectors at up to 26,000 psi. The CP3 is considered the tougher pump compared with the CP4.2 used on 2019-2020 trucks, thanks to bucket followers on a coated, non-rotating ring with lower spring tension and a shorter stroke. Around the rail are the parts this page covers: the rail itself, the rail pressure sensor, the inlet metering valve on the pump (also called the FCA or MPROP), and the plugs, unions and fittings that seal the rail ends and ports.
Why owners end up here
Most rail parts get bought during other work. The rail must be unbolted to swap the intake plenum or horn, so rail hardware and feed-line seals are part of every intake-horn job, and some intake-horn kits also require relocating the fuel rail feed line. Sensors and the inlet metering valve get replaced on their own when diagnosis points to them. Owners of 2014 trucks have reported fuel leaks and injection line failures, though those are scattered complaints rather than a documented pattern, so confirm the leak source before ordering. Dual-pump builds also pass through this page for junction blocks and rail fittings.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
For a stock truck, replace with stock-spec parts for your year: the XDP XD601 new rail for 2007.5-2012 or XD602 for 2013-2018, the Cummins 5297640 rail pressure sensor for 2007.5-2012, the Exergy E05 20415 rail pressure sensor for 2013-2018, and the Exergy E05 20405 inlet metering valve for 2013-2018. Upgrade parts here support engines built past stock injector flow: the Dynomite Diesel DDP67CRC-V2 rail, Fleece dual-pump junction blocks and rail fitting adapters, and Exergy rail fittings for custom plumbing. If you're adding injector flow, size the injectors to the turbo's airflow with the manufacturer's input, and expect a lift pump upgrade to go with them.
What we carry
Exergy Performance supplies rail hardware: M18x1.5 rail plugs, an M18x1.5 rail end to M14x1.5 adapter, an M14x1.5 union, a three-way T fitting, a plug-and-nut rail cap, -6AN and -8AN CP3 supply fittings, pressure relief valves sold by rating, and the 2013-2018 rail pressure sensor and inlet metering valve. XDP has new rails for both year ranges and the XD529 contamination kit. Dynomite Diesel Products offers the DDP67CRC-V2 rail and a 240 MPa rail pressure sensor. Fleece Performance Engineering adds a valve cover conversion harness, a dual-pump junction block with rail sensor port and a 14x1.5 to 18x1.5 rail fitting adapter. BD Diesel has a fuel rail plug and the 1050371 fuel distribution block, Alliant Power has contamination kits for 2013-2018 pickups and Cab & Chassis trucks, and Cummins supplies the genuine 5297640 rail pressure sensor.
Fitment notes
The rail and its sensors split at 2013. XD601 fits 2007.5-2012 and XD602 fits 2013-2018. The Cummins 5297640 sensor is listed for 2007.5-2012 and the Exergy E05 20415 for 2013-2018, and the Exergy inlet metering valve is listed for 2013-2018. The Fleece rail fitting adapter is listed for 2012-2018. Exergy fittings are sold by thread size, so match the M18x1.5, M14x1.5 or M12x1.5 thread to the port. Exergy lists each relief valve by pressure rating, so match it to the rest of your fuel system and call us if you're not sure which one your truck needs. Chassis cabs share the engine but not every part, so verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Is the fuel rail the same on a 2011 and a 2015 Ram?
No. The XDP XD601 rail is listed for 2007.5-2012 trucks and the XD602 for 2013-2018, so a 2011 and a 2015 take different rails. Check your model year before you order.
Which rail pressure sensor does my truck use?
For a 2010-2012, the Cummins genuine 5297640 is listed for 2007.5-2012. For a 2013-2018, the Exergy E05 20415 is the listed sensor. The Dynomite 240 MPa sensor is listed for 2003-2012 trucks.
Do I have to pull the rail to install an intake horn?
Yes. The rail has to be unbolted to swap the intake plenum or horn, so plan on rail hardware and feed-line seals as part of the job. Some intake-horn kits also require relocating the fuel rail feed line, so read the kit instructions before you start.
