Call or Text (352) 722-5295The CP3 on the 2007.5-2009 RAM 6.7L Cummins
The 6.7L Cummins uses a gear-driven Bosch CP3, the same pump family that ran on the 2003-2007 5.9L. It builds common-rail pressure up to about 26,000 psi for six solenoid injectors. The CP4-to-CP3 conversion kits you see advertised are for 2019 and newer trucks; your 2007.5-2009 already has the pump those kits install. Fleece catalogs 10 mm and 12 mm stroker CP3s and the CP3K for the 6.7L, along with dual-pump kits and accessories in the 2007.5-2009 category.
What fails and why
The CP3 is not the usual trouble spot on these trucks. Most fuel-system work here is filters, lift-pump supply and injectors. The pump depends on what feeds it: a neglected filter brings loss of power and rail pressure codes, and Fleece ties the factory in-tank lift pump to P0087 low rail pressure codes, hard starts after sitting and stumbling under load. Rule those out before you condemn a CP3.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If the pump really is done and the truck is stock, a stock-flow reman or new CP3 is the right buy: the Alliant Power AP55206, XDP XD598 or Dynomite DDPCP3-334 reman, or a brand-new Dynomite CP3. Upgrades are for trucks that outrun stock rail pressure at high rpm. The Fleece PowerFlo 750 is a 10 mm stroker CP3, Exergy offers a CP3 based on the 6.7C pump, and S&S Diesel Motorsport builds high-pressure pumps for the 6.7L. A second pump goes further: the PPE Dual Fueler kit adds a twin pump, and Fleece sells dual-pump brackets, pulleys and distribution blocks piece by piece. More pump means more demand on the lift pump, and the factory module is the weak link once demand rises, so plan supply at the same time.

Fitment notes
Check the year range on each part. The reman CP3s from Alliant Power, XDP and Dynomite are listed for 2007.5-2018, the Exergy pump and the PPE Dual Fueler for 2007.5-2012, and the Fleece FPE-DPK-67-0709 hardware kit and fuel distribution block kit for 2007.5-2009 only. Some Fleece pulley and spacer parts cover both 5.9L and 6.7L years. Confirm the truck is a 2007.5 6.7L, not an early-2007 5.9L, and verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a CP4-to-CP3 conversion on my 2007.5-2009 Ram?
No. The 6.7L in these trucks came with a Bosch CP3 from the factory, and CP4-to-CP3 conversion products apply to 2019 and newer trucks. Anything called a conversion in this collection is a stroker or dual-pump setup.
Should I buy a reman or a new CP3?
Both put a stock-flow pump back on the truck. Alliant Power, XDP and Dynomite Diesel offer remanufactured units, and Dynomite also sells a brand-new CP3. If the truck is stock, a stock-flow pump is all it needs; a stroker pump only helps a truck that outruns stock rail pressure.
What does a dual-pump setup need?
A second CP3, a bracket, a pulley and plumbing to tie both pumps into the rail. The PPE Dual Fueler comes as a kit with or without the pump, and Fleece sells the bracket, pulley, idler spacer, junction block and rail sensor bracket separately. Plan the lift pump at the same time, because the factory module is the weak link once fuel demand rises.
Will a new CP3 fix a P0087 code?
Maybe not. Fleece ties P0087 low rail pressure on these trucks to the factory lift pump, and a neglected filter can set rail pressure codes too. Check both before you replace the pump.
