2003-2004 Dodge 5.9L Cummins Taillights

Tail lights for the 2003-2004 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 5.9L Cummins. The rear lamps on these trucks are the earlier third-generation design, and Dodge gave the taillights minor revisions for 2007, so check the years before you buy. The lamps here are AlphaRex Luxx-Series LED tail lights in black, Alpha-Black and black/red.

Taillights on the 2003-2004 Ram 5.9L Cummins

When the Ram 2500 and 3500 moved to the third-generation body for 2003, the rear lamps came with it. The front end got reworked for 2006, but the taillights carried on a year longer and only received minor revisions for 2007. For a 2003-2004 truck, that means the earlier taillight design. The engine doesn't enter into it. You reached this page through the 5.9L Cummins, but taillight fitment is about model year and body.

Why owners replace them

There's no known taillight weak spot on this generation. Owners replace them for age and for looks. On a truck that's two decades old, lenses haze and bulbs wear out like any other lamp, and an LED assembly changes the look of the back of the truck at the same time.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

An OE-style taillight matched to the pre-2007 rear keeps the factory look. An LED upgrade changes the light source and the styling. The Luxx-Series lamps here are the LED route, and they replace the complete assembly, so you aren't putting new bulbs into an old, faded housing. If you only need to fix one broken lamp and want it to match the untouched side, OE-style is the simpler fix. If you want both sides to look new, replace both with the same Luxx-Series finish.

What we carry

This page is AlphaRex Luxx-Series LED tail lights:

  • 641010: Luxx-Series Black
  • 641020: Luxx-Series Alpha-Black
  • 641030: Luxx-Series Black/Red

AlphaRex also uses the Luxx name for its LED projector headlights on this truck, in chrome, black and Alpha-Black, so the front and rear can match if you're doing both ends.

Fitment notes

Look for listings that cover the pre-2007 rear on the Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500. A 2004.5 truck is still the earlier design, since the mid-2004 update was to the engine, not the body. Bulb and wiring details are on each product page, and the fitment checker there confirms your truck by year. If you're not sure, verify by VIN or call us.

Frequently asked questions

Will 2007 Ram taillights fit my 2003-2004?

Don't assume it. Taillights received minor revisions for 2007, and 2003-2004 trucks use the earlier design. Order a lamp listed for your years.

What finishes do the AlphaRex Luxx-Series tail lights come in?

Black (641010), Alpha-Black (641020) and black/red (641030). Pick the one that suits your paint and trim. If you're doing headlights too, the Luxx-Series headlights come in black and Alpha-Black to match.
