1989-1993 Dodge 5.9L Cummins Headlight Upgrades

Upgraded replacement headlights for the 1989-1993 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins. These lamps take the place of the stock headlights and bring LED projector lighting to a truck that left the factory with large rectangular lamps. On a first gen, check the opening before anything else: rust at the lamp buckets and bezels is a known trouble spot.

Upgraded headlights for the 1989-1993 Ram 5.9L Cummins

An upgraded replacement is a headlight built to stand in for the factory lamp while improving on it. On the first-gen D250, D350, W250 and W350, the factory setup is the large rectangular headlamp layout from the 1981 body redesign, carried through the 1991 grille refresh along with its crossbar look. LED conversions on this body are on record, including a 1992 W350 dually and a 1993 W250, so it is an established path for a Cummins first gen rather than a one-off.

What we carry

Right now this group lists the AlphaRex 880520 Luxx-Series LED projector headlights in Alpha-Black. You get LED projector optics and a black housing finish in place of the stock lamp look. Specs and box contents are on the product page.

Fitment notes

Headlamp fitment follows the 1981-1993 body, not the engine, so confirm the listing covers your body year before you order. Inspect the lamp openings for rust before install; corroded buckets and bezels are a common find on rust-belt first gens.

Frequently asked questions

What makes this an upgraded replacement instead of a stock one?

A stock replacement copies the original lamp. An upgraded replacement takes the original's place but changes the lighting, in this case to an LED projector design. Confirm the fitment list on the product page covers your truck before you buy.

Do I need to fix rust before I install new headlights?

Check first. Rust at the lamp openings is on the standard first-gen inspection list, and it shows as corroded headlamp buckets and bezels. A new lamp needs solid metal to mount and aim properly, so repair what you find before the new lamps go in.
