Accessories are the pieces that finish and support a first-gen 5.9L Cummins exhaust. Aftermarket 4 in downpipe-back systems for these trucks end in a 5 or 6 in tip, and kits typically ship with a rolled tip, so swapping the tip is an easy way to change the look. Every MBRP tip here uses a 4 in inlet to match that pipe size. For towing, BD makes a vacuum-actuated, switch-controlled exhaust brake for 1989-1998 Dodge trucks, and BD also sells micro-switch replacement kits for servicing 12-valve exhaust brakes.
How to choose
Tips are about fit and finish. Choose an outlet size from 4 in to 8 in, then a style: rolled or single-wall edges, straight, angle or turndown cuts, dual-wall, or black hex. A turndown tip points the exhaust toward the ground instead of straight back. Brakes are about your drivetrain. Automatic trucks with the A518 four-speed, introduced in mid-1991, need lockup control electronics such as BD AutoLoc or PressureLoc to run an exhaust brake. The A727 three-speed in earlier automatic trucks uses a non-lockup converter, so that control doesn't apply.

Fitment notes
Check the years in each title before you order. The BD remote-mount 4 in brake lists 1989-1998 Cummins, but the BD turbo-mount brake in this collection lists 1994-1998, so first-gen owners should confirm it with the fitment checker or a call. The BD lever switch is titled for manual transmissions across 1989-2007 Cummins, 1994-2007 Power Stroke and 2001-2007 Duramax trucks. The PPE tips come in 3 in and 4 in sizes, so measure your tailpipe first. Verify by VIN when you're unsure.
