A sway bar is a torsion spring laid across the truck. Lean the body or let a trailer push the rear sideways and the bar twists, carrying load from the loaded side over to the unloaded one. It can only do that if the links hold its ends tight to the lower control arms. Let slop into those joints and the bar moves before the suspension does, which reads from the driver's seat as a front end that feels late. Bar diameter is not the same across these trucks: the heavy-duty handling and trailering package lists 36 mm on the 2500HD with 35 mm twin-tube shocks, and 34 mm on the 3500HD with 46 mm monotubes, where a three-stage rear leaf pack is already taking the load differently than the 2500HD's two-stage pack.
When the links become the weak part
Links sit low in the front end, out in the weather, with a joint at each end. Worn joints give you the same complaint a tired front end gives generally, a clunk over bumps and ridges, which is the reason to rule them out before anyone starts pressing ball joints. Towing works the bar in both directions, loading and unloading those joints every time the trailer shifts, and a Sierra leveled on cranked torsion bars holds its links at an angle the factory never drew, on a front end where the extra height already speeds up ball joint, tie rod and idler and pitman wear.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
A Sierra at stock height on stock tires only needs the noise gone, and a like-for-like link does that. The argument for a stronger link belongs to the truck that works for a living: leveling kit, taller and heavier tires, a trailer on the ball most of the time. That truck puts more through the bar, and the link is the piece in the path with moving joints in it.
What we carry
BD Diesel is the vendor on this page, with its upgraded front sway bar end link set, part 1032126. The listing runs from 2001 through 2019 Duramax trucks, so the LMM years sit well inside the range rather than at the edge of it.
Fitment notes
Most suspension listings for these trucks stop at the 2010 model year, because the 2011 Sierra HD arrived with a new frame, new control arms, new torsion bars and new rear leaf springs. This link set is one of the listings that runs straight through that change, so read its fitment instead of assuming either way. Two things worth telling us up front: how tall the truck sits and what lift hardware is under it, since bracket kits that drop the center link rule out some front-end support parts, and whether a 3500HD is single-rear-wheel or dual. The fitment checker on the product page covers most of it and the VIN covers the rest. The wider Duramax catalog for this Sierra is a level up in the menu.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Z71 package change what my Sierra needs up front?
It changes what is already under it. GM offered Z71 Off-Road on single-rear-wheel HD trucks with its own shock and front bar specification plus jounce bumpers and skid plates, so a Z71 truck is not starting from the same hardware as a base trailering-package truck. Pull the RPO list before you assume which setup you have.
Will upgraded links make the ride harsher?
No. A link adds no spring rate; it only ties the bar to the control arm. What you lose is the slack in a worn joint, so the bar starts resisting the moment the body leans instead of a beat later. Ride rate on this truck comes from the leaf pack, the torsion bars and the bar diameter, and none of that changes when the links do.
My Sierra is already lifted. Do stock-length links still work?
Tell us what the lift is before you order. Bracket kits move where the lower control arm sits relative to the bar, and some front-end support hardware will not live with brackets that drop the center link. Send the lift brand, how much lift it is and the VIN, and we will read the listing against your truck over the phone.
