Compound turbo kits for the 2020-2022 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke, from No Limit Fabrication and SPE Motorsport. Know this before you shop: we have not found a compound kit with a CARB Executive Order for these years, so none of these kits is an emissions-compliant upgrade for your truck.

Compound turbos on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

A compound setup runs two turbochargers in series, with one compressor feeding the next. Your truck left the factory with one turbo: a Ford LC3Z-6K682-A single variable-geometry unit with an electronically actuated vane mechanism and a ball-bearing cartridge, mounted in the valley between reverse-flow heads. That VGT also provides the integrated exhaust brake, and boosted air runs through an air-to-water charge air cooler on the secondary cooling loop. A compound kit adds hardware around that layout, so it is a bigger project than a turbo swap.

Is the stock turbo the problem?

Usually not. Bostech calls turbo failures rare on 2020+ trucks that are maintained properly. When these trucks lose boost or surge, the causes are sticking or worn VGT vanes, boost leaks or a sensor issue, and short-trip trucks soot their vanes sooner. Codes like P0299, P0046, P0047, P0048 and P2262 point at that list. So if your truck is down on boost, diagnose before you shop for hardware. Find and fix leaks first, then judge the vanes.

Compliance comes first

An aftermarket part is only sold as emissions-compliant when it carries a CARB Executive Order number for your exact vehicle, engine and year. We have not found a compound turbo kit with an EO for the 2020-2022 6.7L, so we do not present any kit on this page as an emissions-compliant upgrade. For a compliant repair, the answer is the stock-spec LC3Z-6K682-A turbo on a pickup, with the VGT actuator calibrated per Ford's procedure, plus a leak-free air side between the turbo and the charge air cooler.

What we carry

No Limit Fabrication offers its 67CTK Compound Turbo Kit, listed for 2020-2026 6.7L Powerstroke trucks. SPE Motorsport offers the Death Stalker Compound Turbo Kit, listed for 2011-2020+ 6.7L Powerstroke trucks. Read each listing for what is in the box before you order. For single turbos and turbo hardware, see all diesel turbos, or browse everything we stock for the Powerstroke.

Fitment notes

The kits here are listed for year ranges wider than 2020-2022, so check each listing against your truck. The factory turbo changed for 2020, when the LC3Z-6K682-A replaced the 2015-2019 Garrett GT3788V. Pickups and chassis cabs use different turbo part numbers on these years (LC3Z versus LC4Z). And High-Output trucks from 2023 on use a unique turbo with a water-jacketed compressor housing and coolant routed to the compressor cover, so HO parts are not 2020-2022 parts. Any of those differences can change what bolts up. Use the fitment checker, and verify by VIN when in doubt.

Frequently asked questions

Is a compound turbo kit emissions compliant on a 2020-2022 6.7L?

No. We found no compound kit with a CARB EO number for the 2020-2022 6.7L Powerstroke, and without one a kit is not sold as compliant. The compliant turbo for a 2020-2022 pickup is the stock-spec LC3Z-6K682-A.

My truck feels down on boost. Will a compound kit fix it?

Diagnose first. Lazy boost, surging and P0299 underboost on these trucks trace to boost leaks, sticking or worn VGT vanes, or sensor faults, and turbo failures are rare on well-maintained 2020+ trucks. Fix leaks first, then judge the vanes, and replace a worn turbo with a stock-spec unit.

Will a compound kit built for a 2023 High-Output truck fit my 2022?

Do not assume it. The 2023+ High-Output engine uses a unique turbo with a water-jacketed compressor housing, stainless manifolds and coolant routed to the compressor cover, none of which the 2020-2022 standard-output engine has. Buy a kit whose listing covers your exact year, and call us with your VIN if the listing is unclear.

Do these kits fit an F-350 or F-450 chassis cab?

Check the listing. Chassis cabs use a different factory turbo (LC4Z-6K682-A) than pickups (LC3Z-6K682-A) on 2020-2022, and they are separate products from the pickup even with the same 6.7L. If the kit listing does not name the chassis cab, call us with your VIN before you order.
