2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Alternators

High-output alternators for the 2020-2022 Ford F-250 and F-350 with the 6.7L Powerstroke. Before you pick one, know what your truck left the factory with: a 175- or 220-amp primary on its own, or that primary paired with a 157-amp secondary in Ford's dual-alternator setup. That decides the brackets, the bolts and how much extra output you need.

Alternators on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

Ford lists three alternators for the 2020 F-250 and F-350 diesel. The primary is either the 175-amp HC3Z-10346-C or the 220-amp HC3Z-10346-G, and either one can run alone or as the primary in a dual setup. Trucks with the dual-alternator option add the 157-amp HC3Z-10346-F as a secondary. That charging system keeps a pair of Group 65, 750 CCA batteries topped up, and it has to cover everything else you wire into the truck.

When the factory alternator isn't enough

The documented charging issue on these trucks is accessory load. A winch, a plow or upfitter equipment can draw more than a single alternator makes, and the symptom is a low-voltage warning at idle with that load running. Ford's answer is the factory dual-alternator option. Owners report Ford bundled it with certain high-draw options, such as a winch or a rapid-heat system.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

On a stock truck, an OE-equivalent 175- or 220-amp primary keeps Ford's charging strategy intact, and that's the right call if all you need is a working alternator. Once you've added load, you have two paths. The Ford-engineered one is adding the 157-amp secondary with the dual-alternator bracket. The other is swapping the primary for a high-output unit. The alternators in this collection take that second route.

What we carry

Mean Green builds the MG1627, a 300-amp high-output alternator listed for 2011-2022 6.7L trucks. XDP MFG offers the XD352 HD high-output alternator in a wrinkle black finish, also listed for 2011-2022. Compare the rated output on each product page with what your accessories draw. If your truck also cranks slowly, test the batteries and cables too, because a new alternator won't fix voltage drop in the starting circuit.

Fitment notes

Ford lists two mount bolts for the 6.7L alternator, W715094-S437 (M10x40) and W715092-S437 (M10x90), and dual-alternator trucks use both sides. Single- and dual-alternator trucks also use different brackets, so order by how many alternators your truck has. Gas-engine Super Duty alternators for the 7.3L and 6.2L carry different part numbers and amperages, so a gas-truck listing won't cross over. Confirm fitment by VIN with the checker on the product page.

Frequently asked questions

Which alternator did Ford put on my truck?

The 2020 diesel F-250 and F-350 came with a 175-amp (HC3Z-10346-C) or 220-amp (HC3Z-10346-G) primary. Dual-alternator trucks added a 157-amp secondary (HC3Z-10346-F). Read the part number on the unit you're replacing, or call the shop with your VIN and we'll help you sort it out.

Should I add a second alternator or buy a bigger one?

Those are the two routes for an accessory-heavy truck. Adding Ford's 157-amp secondary with the dual-alternator bracket is the factory-engineered path. Swapping in a high-output primary, like the Mean Green MG1627 or the XDP XD352 HD in this collection, keeps a single-alternator layout.

Will an alternator from a gas Super Duty fit my diesel?

Don't count on it. Ford gives the 7.3L and 6.2L gas alternators different part numbers and amperages from the 6.7L units. Shop by engine, and by whether your truck has one alternator or two.

Are the mount bolts different on a dual-alternator truck?

Yes. Ford lists an M10x40 bolt (W715094-S437) and an M10x90 bolt (W715092-S437) for the 6.7L, and single- and dual-alternator trucks use different bolts and brackets. Dual-alternator trucks use hardware on both sides.
