Fifth-wheel hitch parts for the 2017-2019 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke. This page carries the B&W Companion OEM hitch and a Lucas Oil lube made for 5th-wheel hitches and sliders. The key fact: the Companion drops into Ford's factory puck system, so your truck needs the 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package.

5th Wheel Hitch on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

Ford built these trucks to take a 5th wheel from the factory. The 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Trailer Tow Prep Package adds an under-bed crossmember, five attachment points in the bed floor and a 7-pin connector in the driver-side bed wall. Ford's own 5th-wheel hitch was a dealer or factory option that locks into those points. It is rated at 18,000 lb on single-rear-wheel trucks and 27,500 lb on duallys, and that hitch rating is why the truck's 5th-wheel numbers sit below its gooseneck numbers.

What owners run into

Pin weight is the big one. A heavy kingpin load pushes the rear down, the nose comes up and the headlights aim high. Owners usually answer that with air helper springs. Bed length is the other issue. On a 6.75-foot box, a fixed 5th wheel does not leave enough cab clearance, so short-bed trucks need a slider.

Factory hitch vs. B&W Companion

If you bought a used truck with pucks but no hitch, you do not need the Ford hitch. The B&W Companion OEM drops into the factory puck system on 2011-and-newer Super Duty trucks with the prep package, and it is rated at 20,000 lb gross trailer weight and 5,000 lb pin weight. Your usable limit is still the lowest of the hitch rating and the truck's own ratings, including GCWR and the rear axle rating.

What we carry

From B&W Trailer Hitches we carry the RVK3300 Companion Ford OEM Fifth Wheel Hitch, the long-bed version, listed for 2011-2024 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks. From Lucas Oil we carry 10030 5th Wheel & Slider Lube. More towing parts are on our hitches page and in the Powerstroke catalog.

Fitment notes

Look for the five bed pucks before you order. No pucks means the Companion has nothing to mount to. Short 6.75-foot beds need the RVK3370 slider rather than the RVK3300. F-450 pickup owners should confirm fitment with us, since this listing names the F-250 and F-350. Verify by VIN when in doubt.

Frequently asked questions

Will the B&W RVK3300 fit my truck without the factory pucks?

No. The Companion is built to drop into Ford's factory puck system, which comes with the 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package. Trucks without the pucks need an under-bed rail system instead, so call us and we will help you sort out the right setup.

I have a 6.75-foot bed. Which Companion do I need?

The slider version, RVK3370. Short beds need a slider 5th wheel for cab clearance. The RVK3300 on this page is the long-bed version for 8-foot boxes.

How much can I pull with a 5th wheel on my 2017-2019 Super Duty?

Start with the hitch. Ford's factory 5th-wheel hitch is rated at 18,000 lb on single-rear-wheel trucks and 27,500 lb on duallys, and the B&W Companion is rated at 20,000 lb with a 5,000 lb pin. The lowest of the hitch rating, your truck's 5th-wheel rating, its GCWR and its rear axle rating is your real limit.
