The rear of these trucks rides on leaf springs: four leaves with the 6.75-foot box and six with the 8-foot box, with 1.38-inch gas shocks and a rear sway bar on dually trucks. From the factory the 6.7L Powerstroke makes 440 hp and 925 lb-ft in 2017 and 450 hp and 935 lb-ft in 2018-2019, and the leaf packs are what hold the axle in place against that torque. A traction bar gives the axle a second, fixed link to the frame.

Wehrli Custom Fabrication (WCFab) offers complete 60-inch and 68-inch traction bar kits for the 6.7L Powerstroke, axle-specific bracket and install kits for the 4-inch Dana M275 and 4.5-inch Dana M300 rear axles, a universal Ford/Dodge bracket and hardware kit, universal 68-inch bars, and replacement bushings and heims for when the joints wear. BDS Suspension offers its Recoil traction bar kit and a separate Recoil mounting kit, both listed for 2017-2026 6.7L Powerstroke 4WD trucks. Buy a full kit for a first install. Buy brackets, bars or bushings on their own when you are rebuilding or adapting a setup you already have.
Fitment notes
Ford's maintenance data lists three rear axles for this era: the Sterling 10.50, the Dana M275 and the Dana M300. Which one your truck has is on the axle tag and the door-jamb code, and the WCFab bracket kits are built for a specific axle, so check before you order. The BDS kits are listed for 4WD trucks only. Single-rear-wheel and dually trucks, and different cab and bed lengths, can change the parts list, so verify by VIN or call the shop.
Frequently asked questions
Which bracket kit do I need, M275 or M300?
Read the axle tag or the axle code on the door-jamb label. WCFab lists a 4-inch bracket kit for the Dana M275 and a 4.5-inch kit for the Dana M300, and they are not the same part. If your tag says Sterling 10.50, call the shop before ordering brackets.
Will these traction bars fit a 2WD truck?
The BDS Recoil kits are listed for 4WD trucks only. The WCFab kits are listed by engine and year, so check each listing for drivetrain notes or run the fitment checker on the product page before you buy.
Can I replace worn bushings without buying a new kit?
Yes. WCFab sells the WCF207-26 bushing and heim set on its own, so you can refresh the joints on an existing WCFab bar instead of replacing the whole kit.
