Call or Text (352) 722-5295Shocks on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
Ford fitted heavy-duty gas shocks at all four corners. At the rear they are 1.38-inch gas shocks working with a leaf pack of four leaves under the 6.75-foot box or six under the 8-foot box. At the front, a 4x4 F-250 or F-350 and every F-450 put the shock on a solid monobeam axle with coil springs, while a 4x2 F-250 or F-350 uses Twin-I-Beam independent front suspension. Trucks built with the FX4 Off-Road package came with off-road-tuned shocks. The F-450 and F-550 have their own rear shock listings here. Parts for every other system on these trucks start at our 6.7L Powerstroke hub.
Choosing a series
Start with drivetrain and axle end, then pick the series. Bilstein's B6 4600 listings here cover 2WD front and rear, 4WD front and rear, and dedicated F-450 and F-550 4WD rears. The B8 5100 and B8 5160 listings are front and rear shocks for 4WD trucks. If the truck has been leveled or lifted, compare the length specs on the product page with your new ride height before ordering. If you're unsure, call with your setup and we'll match it.
What we carry
Every shock here comes from Bilstein. In the B6 4600 series: 24-274937 front and 24-274944 rear for 4WD, 24-284707 front and 24-284714 rear for 2WD, plus 24-284738 for the F-450 rear and 24-284721 for the F-550 rear. In the B8 5100 series: 24-274951, 24-285285 and 24-285308 fronts, and 24-274968 and 33-306254 rears, all for 4WD. In the B8 5160 series: 25-311815 and 25-311792 fronts and the 25-311808 rear, for 4WD.
Fitment notes
Year ranges vary. Some listings run 2017-2022, others 2017-2026, and the 25-311792 front lists 2005-2026, so confirm the range on the listing. 2WD and 4WD fronts are not interchangeable. The steering damper is a separate part from the front shocks; on 2017-2019 F-250 and F-350 4x4 trucks and F-450 and F-550 models, Ford's program 20N04 covers a redesigned damper for 7 years or 100,000 miles. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Are 2WD and 4WD shocks interchangeable on these trucks?
No. A 4x2 F-250 or F-350 uses a Twin-I-Beam front and a 4x4 uses a solid monobeam axle, so Bilstein lists separate part numbers for each. Order by drivetrain first, then by axle end.
Will new shocks cure the death wobble?
Shocks are not among the wear items tied to it. Ford's fix is a redesigned steering linkage damper under program 20N04, and the wear items behind the shake are the track bar, radius arms, ball joints and tie-rod ends. Replace shocks when they are worn, and look for the wobble's cause at the front linkage.
