2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Flex Plates

Flex plates and flex plate hardware for the 2015-2016 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke and the 6R140 transmission. The flex plate ties the crankshaft to the torque converter, so it carries every bit of torque the engine sends back. On these years that means 860 lb-ft from the factory, before you add anything.

The flex plate on the 2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The 6.7L Powerstroke in 2015-2016 pickups makes 440 hp and 860 lb-ft, and it bolts to the TorqShift 6R140, which Ford rates for 1,400 lb-ft of converter-multiplied input. The converter can lock up as low as 900 rpm. The flex plate is the link between the engine and that converter, so when you build the transmission side of the truck, it belongs in the plan.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

A billet flex plate is a build part. It makes the most sense when you are adding compliant tuning, towing heavy on a regular basis, or already have the transmission out for a converter or complete-unit swap, since the flex plate is right there. Tow-focused and tow-and-race versions let you match the plate to how the truck is used.

Fitment notes

The flex plates here are listed for 2011-2019, the full run of the 6R140 behind the 6.7L. If your truck has an aftermarket converter or a complete built transmission, check that builder's flex plate recommendation before you order. Add the bolt kit if you are replacing hardware, and verify by VIN when in doubt.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a billet flex plate on a stock 2015-2016 F-250 or F-350?

Not by default. The factory 6R140 is rated for 1,400 lb-ft of converter-multiplied input behind the 440 hp / 860 lb-ft calibration. A billet plate is a build part for trucks with added power, heavy regular towing, or a transmission that is already out for other work.

Which flex plate goes with a built transmission package?

Start with the transmission builder's recommendation. BD Diesel and ATS both build 6R140 packages and both offer a billet flex plate here, so pairing the plate with the same builder keeps the parts matched. XDP's Tow Series and Billet Tow & Race Series cover owners building from separate parts.
