Hitch balls and reducer sleeves for the 2015-2016 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke, from B&W. The thing to get right: match the ball to the trailer coupler and the shank to your receiver, which is 2-inch on short-wheelbase SRW trucks and 2.5-inch on everything else.

Hitch hardware on the 2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

Balls and sleeves are small parts, but they carry the whole trailer. Ford built these trucks with a 12.5K 2-inch receiver on the 137- and 142-inch wheelbase SRW diesels and 2.5-inch receivers rated 14K to 19K on the rest. The 2.5-inch receivers ship with a 2-inch reducer sleeve. A 7-/4-pin connector is standard at the bumper, and the 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package adds a 7-pin in the bed wall. If your truck has the integrated trailer brake controller, Ford verified it for electric drum and certain electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes. The 6.7L Powerstroke trucks in this range were built to tow, but any setup is only as strong as its weakest piece.

Choosing a ball and sleeve

Three things matter on a hitch ball: the ball diameter, which has to match the trailer coupler; the shank diameter, which has to match the hole in your ball mount; and the rating stamped on the ball, which has to cover your loaded trailer. Shank length matters too, because the nut needs full thread engagement through a thick mount. Reducer sleeves let a smaller-shank ball mount run in a larger receiver. Ford already includes a 2-inch sleeve with its 2.5-inch receivers, so a B&W sleeve replaces a lost or worn one; check the size options on the listing.

What we carry

This page carries B&W Trailer Hitches BW-THB hitch balls and BW-RE-SL reducer sleeves. Pick size and rating from the options on each product page. For ball mounts, receivers, 5th-wheel and gooseneck hitches for this truck, see our hitches page.

Fitment notes

These parts fit by size, not by truck. Confirm your receiver opening (2-inch or 2.5-inch), your ball mount's shank hole and your trailer coupler size before you order. If you are not sure which receiver your truck has, the wheelbase tells you: 137 or 142 inches on an SRW diesel means 2-inch, the rest are 2.5-inch. The whole setup is rated at its lowest-rated part, so check the stamp on the receiver, sleeve, mount and ball. Verify by VIN when in doubt.

Frequently asked questions

What size hitch ball do I need?

The size stamped on your trailer coupler. Then make sure the ball's rating covers your loaded trailer and its shank fits the hole in your ball mount.

Did my truck come with a reducer sleeve?

If it has a 2.5-inch receiver, Ford supplied a 2-inch reducer sleeve with it. If yours is missing, the B&W sleeve on this page replaces it; pick the size that matches your receiver and mount.

Where are the trailer plugs on a 2015-2016 Super Duty?

A 7-/4-pin connector is standard at the bumper. Trucks with the 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package also have a 7-pin in the bed wall for 5th-wheel and gooseneck trailers.

Will the factory trailer brake controller work with my trailer?

Ford verified the integrated trailer brake controller for electric drum and certain electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes. It is standard on DRW trucks and optional on SRW trucks, so check whether yours has it before you buy a trailer that needs it.
