2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Pitman Arms

Pitman arms for 2015-2016 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 trucks with the 6.7L Powerstroke. On a 4x4 Super Duty the drag link hangs from the pitman arm, so this part sets where your steering linkage starts. The arm here is a 5-inch drop for lifted 4WD trucks, which makes it a lift-kit part rather than a stock-height service replacement.

The pitman arm on the 2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

Ford built the 4x4 Super Duty with a solid front axle and conventional linkage: the pitman arm on the steering gear, the drag link hanging from it, and tie rods across the axle. The gear is a hydraulic power unit with a 20.41:1 overall ratio on 4x4 F-250 and F-350 trucks, and the F-450 got stronger steering gears and linkages for 2015. A 4x2 truck is different again, with Twin-I-Beam front suspension and its own linkage.

No pitman arm change specific to 2015-2016 is documented. Linkage fitment on these trucks spans 2005-2016, and later for some parts, which matches how the arm in this collection is listed: 2005-2025 6.4L and 6.7L Powerstroke, 4WD. The engine in the listing just identifies the trucks; the 6.7L Powerstroke has nothing to do with how the arm bolts on.

Why a drop pitman arm

A lift raises the frame, and the steering gear rides up with it, while the solid axle stays where it is. That changes the angle of the drag link running from the pitman arm down to the axle. A drop pitman arm lowers the drag link's mounting point at the gear end to bring that angle back toward where it sat at stock height. BDS sells this one with a 5-inch drop. Use it where your lift kit's instructions call for it, and not on a stock-height truck.

What we carry

The pitman arm in this collection is the BDS Suspension drop pitman arm with a 5-inch drop, listed for 2005-2025 6.4L and 6.7L Powerstroke 4WD trucks. Read the listing for fitment details and included hardware before you plan the install.

Fitment notes

This arm is 4WD only. A 4x2 Twin-I-Beam truck uses different steering linkage and won't take it. The F-450 pickup's 17.8:1 gear and heavier linkage are model-specific, so if you're working on an F-450, confirm the listing covers it before you order. Lift kits vary, so follow your kit maker's instructions on the drop they call for. Verify by VIN or use the fitment checker on the product page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a drop pitman arm on a stock-height truck?

No. A drop arm is a lift-kit part. On a stock-height 2015-2016 4x4, the factory-style arm keeps the drag link where Ford put it, and this 5-inch drop arm is meant for lifted trucks.

Will this pitman arm fit my 4x2 F-250?

No. The arm is listed for 4WD trucks only. A 4x2 Super Duty uses Twin-I-Beam front suspension with different steering linkage from the solid-axle 4x4.

Does it fit the F-450 pickup?

Check before you buy. Ford gave the 2015 F-450 stronger steering gears and linkages, and its 17.8:1 gear and heavier linkage are model-specific. Run your VIN through the fitment checker on the product page or call the shop.

My truck shakes hard after hitting a bump. Is the pitman arm to blame?

Look at the whole linkage first. The one NHTSA complaint on file for a 2016 F-250 describes violent shaking after a bump at speed, and that symptom is consistent with worn tie rod ends, a worn drag link or a worn track bar. Find the worn part before you replace anything.
