Every diesel Super Duty in these years left the factory with dual 12-volt batteries, 750 cold-cranking amps and 78 amp-hours each. That pair turns the starter on the 6.7L Powerstroke and is kept charged by a 157-amp alternator as standard, with a 200-amp single or 357-amp dual setup as diesel-only options. A hold-down has one simple job: keep each battery from shifting in its tray, so the case, the cables and the terminals stay where they belong. With two batteries, you have two of them to keep right.

Stock hardware vs. billet
This is a choice, not a fix for a known defect. Owners pick billet hold-downs when the original hardware is damaged or missing, or because they want machined parts in an engine bay they keep clean. If your factory hold-downs are intact and tight, they are doing their job and you can leave them alone.

Your truck has two batteries; check whether a kit secures one battery or both before you order.
