Call or Text (352) 722-52955th wheel hitches on the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
Ford's 53W option, offered on the F-250 and F-350 starting in 2011, preps the bed for a 5th wheel or gooseneck. It puts four pucks in a rectangle about 30 in wide by 13 in deep, center to center, around a center gooseneck hole. Underneath sits Ford's 5th-wheel/gooseneck prep package, an under-carriage crossmember package sold as part BC3Z-5F057-A for 2011-2016 trucks. A Ford-puck hitch mounts to those four points. Per Ford's 2014 towing guide, 5th-wheel ratings on these diesels run about 16,400 to 16,800 lb on SRW trucks depending on drivetrain, over 23,000 lb on the F-350 DRW, and 24,700 lb on the F-450 pickup. The truck helps you manage that weight too: trailer sway control and Tow/Haul with the integrated exhaust brake are standard.
Getting the hitch right
Three questions decide which 5th wheel fits. First, does the truck have pucks? GM and Ram puck hitches will not fit a Ford, and trucks without the factory prep need an aftermarket rail kit or a complete hitch system. Second, how long is the bed? A 6.75 ft short bed on a SuperCab or Crew Cab needs a slider hitch for sharp turns, and bed length and SRW/DRW change hitch part numbers. Third, does the trailer clear the tailgate? Ford lists tailgate clearance of 56-57 in on the F-250, 59-60 in on the F-350 SRW, and 56-57 in on the F-350 DRW and F-450.
What we carry
The hitch in this collection is the B&W Trailer Hitches RVK3300 Companion, built for Ford's OEM 5th-wheel puck system and listed for 2011-2024 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks. The Companion is one of the hitch designs made to fit Ford's pucks. Next to it is Lucas Oil 5th Wheel & Slider Lube for the hitch and slider. Ball mounts, goosenecks and weight distribution live on the hitches page, and the rest of this truck is at the Powerstroke hub.
Fitment notes
The Companion here is the Ford OEM-puck version, so your truck needs the factory puck prep for it to mount. Ford's 2011-2016 prep package part number is specific to this body, and 2017-up puck hardware differs, so do not assume prep parts from a newer truck will interchange. Wiring is separate too: the in-bed 7-pin connector comes with the prep package wiring, which is sold separately from the BC3Z-5F057-A crossmember package. Verify by VIN with the fitment checker before you order.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my F-250 has the factory 5th-wheel prep?
Look in the bed. Trucks with option code 53W have four pucks in a rectangle about 30 in wide by 13 in deep, center to center, around a center gooseneck hole. If they are there, a Ford-puck hitch like the B&W Companion is the direct path.
Will a Ram or GM puck hitch fit my Ford?
No. Ford's puck layout needs a Ford-puck-specific hitch, and GM and Ram puck hitches will not fit. Make sure any hitch you buy is listed for Ford's OEM pucks and your model year.
Do I need a slider hitch on a short bed?
For sharp turns, yes. On the 6.75 ft bed of a SuperCab or Crew Cab, a slider gives the trailer room to turn. Bed length and SRW/DRW also change the hitch part number, so pick by your exact truck.
What is the 5th-wheel rating on a 2011-2014 F-350?
Per Ford's 2014 guide, an F-350 SRW is rated about 16,400 to 16,700 lb depending on drivetrain, and an F-350 DRW runs above 23,000 lb. Cab, axle ratio and drivetrain move the number, so confirm it for your build before you hook up.
