2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Pitman Arms

Pitman arms for 2011-2014 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty 4x4 trucks with the 6.7L Powerstroke. The pitman arm ties the steering gear box to the drag link. On a lifted truck, a drop pitman arm brings the drag link back toward its original angle so the steering geometry stays where it belongs.

Pitman arms on the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

Trace the steering from the column down and the pitman arm is the first moving part outside the gear box. It connects the box on the driver-side frame rail to the drag link, and the drag link turns the knuckle on the solid front axle. Because it is the bridge between the box and the linkage, the pitman arm comes up in two jobs: replacing a worn gear box, and lifting the truck. Engine and drivetrain parts for the same truck are on the Powerstroke hub.

When to replace or upgrade

On a high-mileage truck with a sloppy gear box, the pitman arm is commonly replaced along with the box. On a truck lifted 4 inches or more, a drop pitman arm may be needed to restore the drag-link angle, and some lifts call for a corrected drag link instead. Your lift kit maker will tell you which. Before and after the job, have a helper rock the steering wheel on flat concrete while you watch each joint, and get an alignment if the drag link was touched.

What we carry

This collection holds the BDS Suspension drop pitman arm with a 5 inch drop. BDS lists it for 2005-2025 6.4L and 6.7L Powerstroke 4WD trucks, a range that takes in the 2011-2014 F-250 and F-350 4x4. It is meant for lifted trucks that need more drop than the factory arm provides.

Fitment notes

This arm is for 4WD trucks only. A 4x2 Super Duty uses Twin-I-Beam front suspension and a different steering layout. Match the drop to your lift height and follow the lift kit instructions. Verify by VIN or with the fitment checker on the product page.

Frequently asked questions

What does a drop pitman arm actually do?

It moves the drag link's connection point lower at the steering box end. On a lifted Super Duty, that brings the drag link back closer to its stock angle, which keeps the steering geometry in line with what the front end was designed for.

Should I replace the pitman arm when I replace the steering box?

On a worn truck, that is common practice. The pitman arm connects the gear to the drag link, so it is often replaced in the same job as the box. Check it for play during the two-person inspection either way.

Will this pitman arm fit my 2WD F-250?

No. The BDS drop pitman arm is listed for 4WD trucks only. Two-wheel-drive Super Dutys use Twin-I-Beam front suspension, which is a different front end. Call the shop if you are not sure which setup you have.
