The 6.7L Powerstroke runs eight Bosch piezoelectric injectors fed by two common rails at roughly 30,000 psi. The factory part is Bosch 0445117096, part of Ford's BC3Z-9H529 family, and it fits 2011-2014 pickups and 2015-2016 chassis cabs. For 2015 Ford revised the nozzle on pickups. The remanufactured injectors in this collection are sold by cylinder position, one part for cylinders 1, 2, 7 and 8 and another for 3, 4, 5 and 6, and several come with the bolt and line. Every replacement injector has an IQA code that has to be programmed into the PCM.
What fails and why
Injectors fail two ways on this engine. The first is on their own, usually at high mileage: rough cold idle, P030x misfire codes, white smoke that smells of raw diesel, hard starts, or a diesel smell on the dipstick from fuel in the oil. The second is contamination. When the CP4.2 wears and sheds metal, that metal runs through the rails and into the injectors, and the repair covers all eight of them along with the pump, rails and high-pressure lines. On 2011-2012 trucks, Ford TSB 11-10-10 covers P1291 and P1292 codes from an internally shorted injector, which DEF-contaminated or gelled fuel can cause. Replacing a single injector in a contaminated system just sets up the next failure, so check the fuel filter for metal before you order one.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
New or remanufactured is the main choice. Remans from Alliant Power and XDP are sold individually by cylinder position with bolt and line, and BD Diesel offers a remanufactured injector as well. Dynomite Diesel Products sells new and reman injectors both singly and as full sets, and Exergy Performance offers new and reman sets. If the truck has had a pump failure, a full set makes more sense than a single, since contamination reaches all eight. Fitment notes
Do not mix years. The 2011-2014 pickup injector is not the 2015-2016 pickup part, though 2015-2016 chassis cabs stayed on the 2011-2014 pickup injector. Some listings here cover 2011-2019, so confirm that the exact part matches a 2011-2014 pickup before you order. Order reman singles by cylinder position, plan a new high-pressure line for every injector you pull, and line up a scan tool that can program IQA codes, or let a shop handle it. Verify your truck by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Can I replace just one injector on my 2011-2014 6.7L?
Yes, if the fuel system is clean. Replacing one injector in a contaminated system just leads to the next failure, so check the fuel filter for metal first. You will also need a new high-pressure line, since they are one-time-use, and the new injector's IQA code programmed into the PCM.
Why are there two different reman part numbers for the same truck?
The remanufactured injectors are sold by cylinder position: one part for cylinders 1, 2, 7 and 8 and another for cylinders 3, 4, 5 and 6. Order the one that matches the cylinder you are replacing.
Will 2015 injectors fit my 2013 F-250?
No. Ford revised the injector nozzle for 2015 pickups, and the 2011-2014 pickup injector is a different part. The 2015-2016 chassis cabs are the exception, since they stayed on the 2011-2014 pickup injector.
