Call or Text (352) 722-5295Up-pipes on the 2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
The 6.7L Powerstroke uses reverse-flow heads, so the exhaust ports face the valley and the exhaust manifolds sit down between the heads. Short up-pipes join those manifolds to the turbo, which also sits in the valley. On 2011-2014 pickups the turbo is the Garrett GT32 SST DualBoost. F-350, F-450 and F-550 chassis cabs from 2011 through 2016 used a Garrett AVNT3276V instead, with a 300 hp, 660 lb-ft calibration. All the exhaust energy the turbo uses has to pass through the up-pipes first, so a leak here hits performance directly.
What fails and why
Up-pipes are a leak point when manifold studs break, and broken studs are a known 2011-2014 problem that Ford documented in SSM 50330. Any leak upstream of the turbo shows up as poor spool, high EGT and what feels like the transmission hunting, and the truck lugs and responds lazily. Stud leaks add their own signs: a tick on cold start, exhaust smell and soot streaks at the manifold joints. The gasket where the manifold meets the up-pipe is part of that same joint, so plan on a new one whenever you open it.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If the up-pipes are intact and the leak is at the gasket, Mahle's F32585 manifold-to-up-pipe gasket is the stock repair. If a pipe is damaged, a replacement up-pipe set is the next step. When a broken manifold stud is behind the leak, fix it the way SSM 50330 calls for, with new studs, gaskets and heat shields, rather than re-torquing. Up-pipes are also part of any 2015 GT37 turbo retrofit, which requires new up-pipes.
What we carry
Pacific Performance Engineering offers the 316119511 High-Flow Up-Pipes, listed for 2011-2014 pickups and 2011-2016 cab and chassis trucks. Mahle supplies the F32585 exhaust manifold to up-pipe gasket, listed for 2011-2026 6.7L engines. Manifolds, manifold hardware and the rest of the hot side are in the full exhaust category.
Fitment notes
Up-pipes follow the turbo. Ford changed the up-pipes, passenger manifold and downpipe when it moved to the GT37 for 2015, so a 2011-2014 pickup that has been retrofitted with a GT37 takes 2015-2016 up-pipes, not the parts for its model year. Chassis cabs kept the AVNT3276V through 2016, which is why PPE lists its up-pipes for 2011-2016 cab and chassis trucks. If your truck is registered in California or another state that follows CARB rules, check the emissions status on the product page. Verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
How can I tell if an up-pipe is leaking?
Drivability is the first clue. A leak upstream of the turbo causes poor spool, high EGT, lugging and what feels like transmission hunting. Because up-pipe leaks can go along with broken manifold studs, also listen for a tick on cold start and look for soot streaks at the manifold joints.
Do I need new up-pipes for a GT37 turbo swap?
Yes. A 2015-style GT37 retrofit on a 2011-2014 requires new up-pipes, along with the 2015-2019 two-piece downpipe and the 2015 manifold. After the swap, the truck takes 2015-2016 exhaust-side parts.
Will the PPE up-pipes fit my chassis cab?
PPE lists the 316119511 up-pipes for 2011-2014 pickups and 2011-2016 cab and chassis trucks. Chassis cabs used the AVNT3276V turbo through 2016, so a 2015 or 2016 chassis cab is covered even though a 2015 pickup is not. Confirm on the product page and verify by VIN.
