2011-2014 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Valve Covers

Valve cover gaskets for 2011-2014 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 trucks with the 6.7L Powerstroke, from MAHLE and Dorman, sold as left, right or complete sets. Before you replace a gasket for oil on top of the engine, rule out the injector seals under the covers and crankcase pressure from a clogged CCV separator; both can put oil where you would expect a gasket leak.

Valve cover gaskets on the 2011-2014 6.7L Powerstroke

The 6.7L Powerstroke runs aluminum reverse-flow heads, with the intake ports on the outside and the exhaust in the valley. Under each valve cover are the pushrod valvetrain, four valves per cylinder, and the injectors with their grommets and seals. The closed crankcase ventilation (CCV) oil separator sits on top of the driver-side valve cover. Each side takes its own gasket, and the parts in this collection come as a single side or as a set.

What fails and why

Before you blame the gasket, check two things. First, the injector grommets and seals under the valve covers: when they leak, oil pools around the injectors and runs down the block, and replacing them is a low-cost fix once the cover is off. Second, the CCV separator. A clogged separator raises crankcase pressure and pushes oil past seals that were healthy, so new leaks at several gaskets at once point to the separator, not to every gasket on the engine.

Whatever you suspect, trace the leak from the highest wet point down with UV dye before you buy parts. If the oil traces back to the cover's sealing edge, the gasket is the fix.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

This collection is OE-style replacement gaskets, and that is what the job calls for. The real upgrade is fixing the cause: replacing the CCV separator every 30,000 to 40,000 miles keeps a clogged separator from pushing oil past healthy seals, and it protects the turbo seals too. If a cover is coming off for injector grommets, put a new gasket on when it goes back together. Choose between MAHLE and Dorman by what you need: MAHLE offers full sets and single-side sets, and Dorman offers individual left and right gaskets.

What we carry

  • MAHLE VS50658 valve cover gasket set, plus the VS50658SL left and VS50658SR right sets.
  • MAHLE VS50852 valve cover gasket set.
  • Dorman 263-201 left and 263-200 right valve cover gaskets.

Fitment notes

Every gasket here is listed for 2011-2020 6.7L Powerstroke trucks, so the same parts cover 2011-2014 and later trucks. Left and right are named from the driver's seat: left is the driver side, the side with the CCV separator on top. If you are doing one side, order that side's gasket; if both covers are coming off, a full set is simpler. Verify by VIN or use the fitment checker on the product page.

Frequently asked questions

Which valve cover gasket is left and which is right?

Left and right are named as if you are sitting in the driver's seat, so left is the driver side, the cover with the CCV separator on top. Dorman 263-201 and MAHLE VS50658SL are the left; Dorman 263-200 and MAHLE VS50658SR are the right.

Oil is pooling around my injectors. Is that the valve cover gasket?

It can be the injector grommets and seals under the cover instead, which are a low-cost fix once the cover is off. Since you have to remove the cover to reach them, put a new valve cover gasket on when it goes back together.

I replaced a valve cover gasket and now other gaskets are leaking. Why?

Look at the CCV separator. A clogged separator raises crankcase pressure and pushes oil past healthy seals, which shows up as new leaks at several gaskets. Replacing it every 30,000 to 40,000 miles is both the fix and the prevention.
