Call or Text (352) 722-5295Oil pans on the 2007.5-2010 Silverado LMM
The LMM holds 10 quarts of oil with a filter change, and the factory filter is an ACDelco PF2232. It was the first Duramax with a diesel particulate filter, so GM called for low-ash CJ-4 oil. The pan sits at the bottom of that system. It holds the oil, carries the drain plug and seals to the block with a gasket and a set of bolts. If the pan is coming off on your Silverado, whether it is a WT, LT or LTZ, plan the gasket, the bolts and the plug together so the job only happens once.
What to watch on this engine
The well-documented oil issue on the LMM is fuel dilution. During an active regeneration the ECM adds a late post-injection of fuel to heat the exhaust and burn soot out of the DPF. Some of that fuel sticks to the cylinder walls and washes past the rings into the crankcase. The signs are a rising oil level, a fuel smell in the oil and oil that runs thinner than it should. Short-trip duty makes it worse. More than 5 percent fuel by volume is considered excessive, and oil analysis is how you set a change interval that stays ahead of it.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
For a straight pan gasket job, the stock-style part is the MAHLE OS32284 oil pan gasket, listed for 2001-2010 6.6L Duramax. If you are going deeper into the engine, the MAHLE 95-3734 engine gasket set is cataloged for the 2007.5-2010 6.6L Duramax and comes without head gaskets. The upgrade path is the PPE 114052000, a high-capacity cast aluminum pan built for 2001-2010 Duramax trucks. Whichever way you go, fresh hardware such as the XDP XD624 black-phosphate pan bolt kit makes sense while the pan is down.
What we carry
This collection pulls from MAHLE for the pan gasket and engine gasket set, Pacific Performance Engineering (PPE) for the cast aluminum pan, XDP for the pan bolt kit, Mishimoto for the MMODP-1415B magnetic drain plug, and ATS Diesel Performance for a drain plug made to fit ATS pans and differential covers. For the rest of the truck, start at our Duramax parts hub.
Fitment notes
Several parts here carry wide listings, such as 2001-2010 or 2001-2016 6.6L Duramax. Many Duramax engine parts are listed by engine family, so check the engine code, not only the model year. A 2007 Silverado HD could be the new-body truck with the LMM or the 2007 Silverado Classic, which is the older body with the LBZ. The ATS plug is listed for ATS pans and differential covers, so it suits trucks already running ATS parts. When in doubt, verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
How much oil does a 2007.5-2010 Silverado LMM hold?
Ten quarts with a filter change. The factory filter is an ACDelco PF2232, and because the LMM has a DPF it calls for a low-ash CJ-4 oil.
Why does my oil level keep climbing between changes?
On the LMM a common cause is fuel dilution from DPF regens. Fuel from the late post-injection washes past the rings into the crankcase. Anything over 5 percent by volume is excessive, so send a sample out for oil analysis and shorten your interval if the report calls for it.
Which drain plug should I buy for my Silverado?
On a factory pan, look at the Mishimoto MMODP-1415B magnetic drain plug, which is listed for 2001-2016 6.6L Duramax. The ATS 402-009-1000 is listed for ATS pans and differential covers, so it is the match if you already run ATS parts.
