Description
Upgrade the factory main bolts in your 2006-2010 GM 6.6L Duramax LBZ/LMM with the XDP X220 Main Stud Kit XD3008MS. Whether you are setting up your Duramax for the track or street, upgrading the stock OEM main bolts is a must. The factory bolts typically can't handle the pressure found in high-horsepower applications. Constructed using an 8740 Chromoly with an added proprietary element ensures these studs will not stretch like the factory bolts. A 220,000 PSI tensile strength ensures these studs can handle the increased performance of your application. In addition, the threads are rolled after heat-treating to deliver optimum fatigue strength.
In addition to the upgraded strength, replacing the main bolts with studs also allows you to obtain a more accurate torque reading. A conventional bolt gets twisted as it is tightened, so it's reacting to two different forces at the same time. With a stud the force gets applied to the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force. In addition, they typically allow for easier engine assembly and proper alignment of the main bearing caps every time. These are a must have for high-performance applications and are reusable, unlike the OEM Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts which must be replaced after each use. This kit includes main studs, 12-point nuts, washers, and installation instructions.

TECH TIPS:
XDP Thread Cleaning Chasers (Sold Separately):
Both the XD40126TC and XD40125TC are a great add-on that will be critical during installation. Thread Cleaning Chasers are an excellent tool to have on-hand to ensure you have properly cleaned the threads in your engine block before the installation of any fasteners. Clean threads provide accurate torque readings and will help give you peace of mind during your engine build.

Fastener Assembly Lubricant (Sold Separately):
The use of assembly lubricant is highly recommended during engine assembly. Apply lubricant to head studs, head bolts, main studs, main bolts, connecting rod bolts, and any other fasteners used during engine assembly. Using a proper assembly lubricant during fastener installation reduces friction and torque pre-load scatter in the torquing sequence, while also helping to prevent thread galling and seizing.
