The XDP X220 Series Head Stud Kit XD3006HS is a must have for your high performance 2001-2016 GM 6.6L Duramax LB7/LLY/LBZ/LMM/LML. The OEM head bolts typically can't handle the pressure from high-horsepower applications. Constructed using 8740 Chrome Moly with an added proprietary element ensures these studs are more durable and will not stretch like the factory bolts. The threads are rolled after heat-treating to deliver optimum fatigue strength. These studs are rated at a 220,000 PSI tensile strength to keep your cylinder heads from lifting under higher combustion pressures. 

A conventional bolt gets twisted as it is tightened, so it's reacting to two different forces at the same time. With a stud the force gets applied to the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force which allows you to obtain a more accurate torque reading. The XD40124TC and XD40128TC are a great add-on that will be critical during installation. Thread Cleaning Chasers are an excellent tool to have on-hand to ensure you have properly cleaned the threads in your engine block before the installation of any fasteners. Clean threads provide accurate torque readings and will help give you peace of mind during your engine build or head gasket repair.

Fastener Assembly Lubricant (Sold Separately):
The use of assembly lubricant is highly recommended during engine assembly. Apply lubricant to head studs, head bolts, main studs, main bolts, connecting rod bolts, and any other fasteners used during engine assembly. Using a proper assembly lubricant during fastener installation reduces friction and torque pre-load scatter in the torquing sequence, while also helping to prevent thread galling and seizing.
