The one thing to know: Ram's in-bed pucks use a pattern found only on Ram trucks, so a fifth-wheel hitch built for Ford or GM pucks will not drop in.

Fifth-wheel hitches on the 2019-2024 RAM 6.7L Cummins

The 2019 redesign gave the frame a fully boxed rear section and an upgraded rear-axle crossmember with fifth-wheel and gooseneck provisions. Trucks built with the factory 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Towing Prep Group have four pucks in the bed floor and a 7-pin plug inside the bed. For 2021, Ram upgraded the rear crossmember again and integrated the pucks, gooseneck plates and center casting into the box floor. At the top of the range, a 2019 3500 with the Max Tow package came with a 30K fifth-wheel hitch already installed, along with 4.10 gears, dual rear wheels, auto-leveling rear air and a trailer brake controller.

Before you hook up

Two recalls on 2019-2022 trucks involve the bed and tailgate you work around every time you hook up a fifth wheel. Recall 20V-207 covered an accessory bed step that could fail, and 22V-904 covered tailgate strikers that could let the tailgate open. Neither one is a hitch defect, but you rely on both when you climb in to check the hitch and drop the tailgate to back under the trailer. If you bought the truck used, have the recall status checked by VIN.

Factory hitch vs. aftermarket puck hitch

If your truck has the prep group but no hitch, or you want something other than the factory 30K, a Ram-specific puck hitch drops straight into the factory pucks. Whatever brand you choose, it has to be the Ram-pattern version; a Ford or GM puck hitch will not fit. If the truck has no pucks at all, Mopar prep kits add them to trucks built without the prep group, and then a Ram puck hitch drops in the same way.

What we carry

The B&W Trailer Hitches Companion RVK3670 is the Ram OEM-puck version of B&W's fifth-wheel hitch, listed for 2010-2025 Cummins Rams. Check the model years on the hitch listing against your truck, since Ram changed the bed floor for 2021. Your towing capacity depends on the whole truck, not just the hitch, so look up the numbers for your cab, axle, rear wheels and engine output. Verify by VIN, or call and we'll do it with you. Ram uses its own puck pattern, so a hitch built for Ford or GM pucks will not drop into a Ram bed. A Cummins 2500 in Ram's 2019 chart is rated 15,520 to 19,780 lb. It is listed for 2010-2025 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 pickups with the 6.7L Cummins that carry the factory puck prep. Owners pick it to pull a fifth wheel off the factory pucks, then lift it out for a flat bed.

Fitment

Listed for 2010-2025 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 pickups with the 6.7L Cummins. B&W lists the RVK3670 for the Ram puck system, so your bed has to have Ram's factory fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep with the pucks already in the floor. That prep was an available option starting in 2013, not standard equipment. 2010-2012 beds were not built with pucks and need an underbed rail or gooseneck kit instead (see our hitches), so this hitch is not the part for them. Ram's puck pattern is unique to Ram. Before you order, look for four pucks in the bed and an in-bed 7-pin connector. Know your bed length, 6 ft 4 in or 8 ft, because it matters for hitch placement. Verify fitment by VIN, or call us with it.

Why this part

A Ford or GM puck hitch will not drop into a Ram, so a Ram puck truck needs a Ram-specific base like this one. The Companion uses the mounting points the factory already put in the frame. No rails get bolted across the bed, and when the hitch comes out you have a level floor for hauling.

The slider is the reason to choose the RVK3670 over a fixed base. On a Ram short bed, a slider fifth wheel is the usual call; long-bed trucks do not need one. The hitch is rated 20,000 lb GTW, but your truck's rating may be lower. Ram tow ratings change with cab, bed, axle ratio, 2500 vs 3500 and single vs dual rear wheels, so go by your door-jamb sticker and owner's manual, not a generic maximum.

What you get

B&W 20K Companion Slider fifth wheel hitch for Ram pucks, part RVK3670

Puck-mounted base that drops into the factory pucks, turns and pins in place

Cam-operated handle. B&W describes a puck system as a 5-hole towing system the truck manufacturer installs on the frame, so the pucks must already be there.
