During active DPF regeneration the engine uses post-injection, and some of that fuel ends up in the crankcase. Trucks that idle a lot or run short trips get it worst. If the dipstick level is climbing or the oil smells like diesel, change the oil and filter early. Poor filter performance and contaminated oil can lead to premature wear and potential failure of engine internals. The OEM filter falls short here. It offers only 455 square inches of 20-micron filtration and uses a weak leaf spring, which reduces seal quality and lets dirty oil blow past the filter media.

PPE's filter answers each of those points. Its MicroPure XR ultra-fine synthetic microfiber media achieves a 5-micron nominal rating across 552 square inches of filtration area, a 21% increase over the OEM filter. An integrated high-temperature rated neodymium magnet captures ferrous particles before they can clog the media, extending filter and oil life. A heavy-duty coil spring holds a secure seal between the media end cap and the base plate, eliminating dirty oil blow-by and maximizing filtration performance.

The valves are built to seal. Where competitors use an unsealed bypass valve, PPE uses a steel-NBR poppet and a precision coil spring for a proper seal and consistent performance. A heat-resistant silicone anti-drainback valve keeps oil in the filter after the engine is shut off, which protects against dry starts.

The canister is heavy duty too. A high-strength steel base plate with increased thread engagement and large oil passages, plus a durable metal center tube for rigid media support and pressure resistance, hold up in all conditions. A pleat-locking spiral bead of adhesive keeps the media pleats secured and evenly spaced for consistent filtration. TorqSTOP Technology prevents over-tightening and reinforces the rubber gasket, which gives the filter a burst pressure rating of 450PSI.

What you get

One PPE MicroPure XR engine oil filter, part number 314000767, with the magnet, bypass valve and anti-drainback valve built in

Specifications

MicroPure XR® filtration with a 5-micron nominal rating

552 Square inches of ultra-fine synthetic microfiber media, a 21% increase over the stock filter

Integrated high-temperature rated neodymium magnet captures ferrous particles, providing extra engine protection

Built-in bypass valve with precision coil spring and steel-NBR poppet

High-strength steel base plate with increased thread engagement and large oil passages

Durable metal center tube provides excellent media support and pressure resistance

TorqSTOP Technology prevents over-tightening and reinforces the gasket against high oil pressures

Silicone anti-drainback valve delivers superior protection during engine start-ups

Heavy-duty coil spring ensures a secure seal and prevents oil blow-by, maximizing filtration performance

Pleat-locking spiral bead keeps media pleats evenly spaced for consistent filtration performance

About Pacific Performance Engineering

Pacific Performance Engineering, founded in 1985 and based in North Las Vegas, Nevada, built its reputation on 6.6L Duramax parts before moving into Cummins and Power Stroke. Both filter options are 100% efficient at 20 micron and 20% efficient at 4 micron, with 1R-1807 having the most oil capacity.

FLOW
The CAT Filters easily out-flow the factory FL2051S. This is basically a given just from the sheer size; however, during testing, we have found that the flow restrictions were not the factory filter but the filter housing itself. We knew to gain proper filtration and flow we would need a housing rather than an adapter to slap a larger filter on. The SPE oil filter housing design increases flow by 30%. Our billet design allowed us to manufacture it in a way the factory couldn't. In some instances during testing, the additional flow even lowered oil temperatures.

DESIGN FEATURES
Our housing is made in-house out of a solid chunk of billet aluminum.
