Get the stopping power your vehicle needs when you install the BD-Power Variable Vane Exhaust Brake from SDS. BD has adapted their braking technology to match the changes in newer truck models. The Chevy Duramax engines already had the necessary change, so BD utilized it for engine retarding purposes. The same Garrett variable vane turbo design used in the 2004.5-up Duramax engine can reduce turbo lag and increase power, while also aiding in slowing down. By closing off the vanes in the turbo, BD can create up to 35psi of back pressure, providing ample retarding horsepower for better control.
To use it, simply switch on BD's Variable Vane Brake while in Tow/Haul mode. Installation is easy, as most of the connection is done through an existing diagnostic port on the engine. This brake is designed to not cause harsh downshifts or strain on your truck. It is also firmware updatable via USB connection. The VVB rotary switch offers three different modes for better weight control and integrates with the cruise control system. Installation is simple, requiring plugging into existing factory ports and mounting the rotary switch on the dash. With all these features in one package, BD offers value-added engine retarding at its finest.
Note: Compatibility cannot be guaranteed with all aftermarket products that have a permanent connection to the OBDII port inside the cab. At this time the Edge Products CS/CTS & older Attitude Monitors along with H&S Mini Maxx are not compatible.
